Volunteers Outing to Belgium 17-21 April 2013

What a trip! Mel the driver from Chauffeur Hire Plus picked us up at Dyrham for 7.00am which was very early and we motored on, via the tunnel, to Gent in time for dinner. On the first day there, we visited the historic town of Engien where we saw amazing tapestries, churches and the famous gardens ( as seen in our tapestries in the Tapestry Bedroom).
On the second day we visited the old capital of the Low Countries, Mechelen, where we toured the De Wit tapestry workshops. If you want to know how our old tapestries were made, or how they are conserved, then ask one of us. We all had a great time and were well looked after by the very friendly guides and Mel.
Thank you very much David (Bowring) for being the chief organiser and guide on this trip. It was marvelous.
